5th Puppy: Blue Tan Male
6th Puppy: Red Female
7th Puppy: Blue Orange Female

The puppies are doing great! They are spending most of their time with mom, being nursed and cleaned and loved. They are getting weighed twice a day to make sure that they are all thriving, which they are. They are all close in weight except Tan boy, he is still a little larger then the rest. Of course that is to be expected since he was much bigger at birth. Lucy is such a doting mom. She just loves being with them and taking care of them. It is hard to get her to leave them for a little while so she can have a little break and go potty! We are having a great time, holding and cuddling the puppies. While we love to see them grow and see their personalities develop, there is nothing like holding a two day old puppy in your arms!

Enjoy the pictures!

The Puppies Have Arrived!!

Well, they are here! There are 7 beautiful little puppies that arrived all night long last night! There are 4 boys and 3 girls. Lucy had her first puppy at 8:30 last night and had her last one at 6:00 this morning. She did great as always! Mom and puppies are all healthy and doing very well.

We usually deliver the puppies in the puppy nursery in a big(heavy) 4x4 whelping box. However, we have talked to many breeders that use a baby pool and love it. Whelping puppies is a very messy job and mom tends to continue to be a little messy for a little while and other breeders love how easy it is to move these light pools and wash them, keep them clean, and move them wherever they need them. When we decided that we wanted to deliver the puppies in the kitchen and then move them into the puppy nursery after a few days, we decided to try the baby pool idea. Boy do we love it! It is the perfect size. The big 4x4 whelping box doesn't allow mom to get comfy and cozy and allow her to feel like she is in her own little nest. The big whelping box also allows more room for the puppies to wiggle away from mom and get lost! The pool fits perfectly in the corner of our kitchen so Lucy and the puppies can be right near us while they are young and need to be monitored. It is very easy to keep clean, and mom and puppies can stay nice and cozy and close to each other. Who thought that something so easy could work so well?

I posted some pictures of the puppies below. They are adorable! They are smaller then we expected. Weights ranged from 8.8 oz to 11.8 oz. with one big boy at 14.8 oz. Gee, I wonder who was getting all the food in mom's belly??

We will get some individual pictures in the next day or two!

Getting Ready

Below is Lucy right before her first puppy arrived! Her belly didn't look quite so big to us, but somehow she had 7 little puppies in there!

Tonight's the Night!!

Well, we think so anyway. I have been taking Lucy's temperature for the last couple of days and yesterday afternoon it was 99.4. Dog's normal temps are usually 101.5 or somewhere in that vicinity. So when Lucy's was lower I knew that the time was approaching!

Well an hour ago she started panting, and now she is acting a little restless, so we think they will be arriving soon! But then again, you never know. It could be a LOOOOONG night!

How many do you think?

We will be sure to post again once the puppies are born!!!

Pregancy Confirmed!!

We have Linnie visiting us for a few days while her Guardian mom is out of town. We just LOVE when Linnie is here. She is the sweetest thing and just a pleasure to have around. We took her for an ultrasound today and confirmed her pregnancy! This will be our first litter of Australian Labradoodles and will be a range of cream, apricot and reds! We are so excited!

Linnie got her hair cut this week also. Her Guardian mom thought she needed some relief from all that extra hair while she is pregnant and since it has been so warm. We agree! Even though it is pretty short, she still looks as cute as ever. Everyone at the vets just loves her. They think she is the cutest thing and can't believe how well behaved she is.Even when laying on the table for her ultrasound, she was just calm and relaxed, "a very good patient" the vet said.

We will be sad to see Linnie go on Sunday, but we will be getting her back in just about a month!

Below are some pictures of her new haircut and her and Willa hanging out, waiting for Lucy to come home!

We're Almost There!

Below are some pictures of Willa and Lucy. They are certainly progressing in their pregnancies! We are on puppy watch now for Lucy. She can have puppies any day now or it could be a week. So we are all on our toes now, watching for any signs that may let us know that puppies will be here soon. Willa is due about a week after Lucy, so she is close to her due date too!

I think in my last post I mentioned how Willa and Lucy like to lay down in front of their bowl and eat. Well I managed to get a picture of Willa in action since they can't even come outside with us for a few minutes without bringing the food bowl as well! It is just too funny.

Lucy is off getting a "spa day" in preparation for her puppies. She will get a nice bath, and trim and will come home looking even more beautiful then before! We'll get some pictures of her when she comes home.

Big Bellies!

Below are pictures of Willa and Lucy. They are very close together in their pregnancies and their bellies are really starting to show!

They are forgoing comfy, fluffy pillows to lay on and are instead choosing the cool wood and tile floors. They both have very big appetites as well. It is really funny to watch them eat. They pick a bowl and then they will lay down with their paws on either side of the bowl and just eat.

We are all looking forward to have puppies in our home again. It has been months and we can't wait to have those warm little bodies to hold!

More Pictures.

It is an absolutely gorgeous day. I decided to hang out in the backyard with Willa and Lucy. I got a few cute shots of them. I think it is too soon to see any progress with Willa, her belly still seems about the same size. She has a very healthy appetite though! Lucy is starting to feel a little better. She always has a little morning sickness when she is pregnant. She doesn't eat as much as usual and throws up a few times. She is starting to show more interest in food now, which means her belly size will begin to increase. :)

Enjoy the pics!
